CDS Inclement Weather Policy

CDS makes decisions about early closings or late openings that may be independent of other schools. Announcements are posted on the school website, emailed to families and posted to WTOP (103.5 or www.wtopnews.com) and NBC4. CDS makes every attempt to post these notices to families as soon as possible or by 6:00 am.

We follow the procedures below: 

• When CDS is closed for the day, there are no classes or evening functions. 
• When CDS has a two-hour delay:  
  • 3-hour classes and Parent/Child classes are cancelled 
  • All 5-hour and full day classes arrive for carpool two hours after assigned carpool time
  • Stay & Play and evening activities are in session at their regular time
• When CDS has a one-hour delay:
  • Full-day classes and part-day classes arrive for carpool one hour after assigned carpool time
  • Stay & Play and evening activities are in session at their regular time
• When CDS closes early:
  • An all-school notification will be sent to parents as soon as possible.
  • Stay & Play and evening activities are cancelled.
  • 3-hour classes dismiss at their regular time
  • 5-hour classes are dismissed from 12:00 – 12:10
  • Full-day 3 classes and Kindergartners are dismissed from 12:10 – 12:20
  • Full-day 4 classes are dismissed from 12:20 – 12:30
