Parent Representative Organization (PRO)

The Big Dig is a time-honored tradition at Country Day. Held every spring, this event allows parents and their children a tangible way to make an impact by planting flowers all around our 4-acre campus. It takes many volunteers to get our grounds ready for Spring!

Held on campus every fall, the Book Fair is another way that we can instill a love of learning in our children, especially a love of reading. Books will be available for purchase, with a portion of the proceeds going directly to CDS. Volunteers will be needed to set up, process sales, and more.

Help plan fun events that celebrate the amazing cultures in our school community. Think International Day, parades, music, crafts, and more. Whether you want to share your own traditions or help highlight others, this is a great way to bring people together, have some fun along the way, and foster a sense of community.

The goal of this committee is to identify fun and creative ways to help raise unrestricted financial support for Country Day School which may be used to add resources to classrooms, maintain the historical grounds, and more. Past fundraisers have included Spirit Wear sales, Deals on Meals, as well as partnerships with Mabel's Labels and Minted.

The philanthropy committee's mission is to work with faculty members and families to plan 2-3 donation collections throughout the year. The goal is to help teach our children about the value of giving to those who are less fortunate, and to reinforce participation in local community projects. Past activities have included: food and supply drives for SHARE of McLean, fundraising for Families4Families, and coat drives. It's a fulfilling experience and a valuable part of the culture of the school.

The social committee plans and organizes two main events for parents and staff - a holiday party in early December, and an End-of-Year Party and Art Show at CDS in early June. If you enjoy planning parties and working around a theme to create an entertaining event complete with food, drinks, and fun decorations, then this committee is for you!

A perennial favorite, the long-standing tradition of the CDS Spring Fair is held the first Saturday in May and is open to all in the CDS community, as well as friends of CDS students. As a completely parent-run event, it takes many, many volunteers to staff and organize crafts, games, entertainment, face painting, food, and fun for the entire family. Sub-committee chair opportunities exist for staffing, promotion, food, entertainment, crafts, decorations, and more!

This committee ensures that our teachers and staff feel appreciated throughout the year. PRO hosts four lunches for teachers and staff and will need volunteers to coordinate. They also plan fun surprises for the teachers in support of Teacher Appreciation week held in May.

The VIP Committee helps create engaging, educational experiences for students, right on school grounds. These “field trips” are designed to extend learning beyond the traditional classroom setting, offering students the opportunity to explore new topics through hands-on, interactive activities, programs, and performances.

This committee will work with teachers to create activities that tie into classroom topics and bring learning to life. Parents can share their own skills or help bring in guest experts to make the experience extra special.

It takes many hands to pull together this treasured keepsake. The yearbook committee needs 1-2 volunteers from each class to compile and organize photos throughout the year. They also need 2-3 volunteers to take photos at each school event.
