Policies & Permissions

If symptoms of any illness prevent a child from participating comfortably in activities, creates a greater need for care than the school can provide, a child has a fever of 100 degrees or higher, a rash, or if a child’s condition is suspected to be contagious and requires exclusion as identified by public health authorities, CDS will immediately notify the child’s parent, legal guardian, or other person authorized by the parent and have them pick up the child within 15 to 30 minutes. Ill children will be isolated in a separate room with a faculty/staff member to await pick up. Generally, children may return to school 24 hours after being fever and symptom free, unmedicated and feeling well enough to attend at school. In cases of COVID-19, children who test positive must isolate at home for 5 days. If symptom free on day 6, may return to school wearing a mask until day 10. The return time may be longer in some cases, and, depending on the condition, the school may request a doctor’s note before a child returns to school. Per the CDC, there is no quarantine recommendation for an exposure.
All children have opportunities for water play and sprinkler activities. Swimming is offered daily, weather permitting, to reliably toilet-trained children enrolled in eligible programs Children participating in swimming must be able to follow the pool staff’s directions. We assume all children are non-swimmers until their swimming ability is determined. I understand that should my child demonstrate that he/she not be reliably toilet-trained, alternate arrangements will be made by the camp staff during the class pool time. In the event I/we do not give permission for any of the above, I/we will submit a signed letter, stating the exceptions, to the CDS Camp Office as soon as possible and BEFORE my child attends Camp CDS
CDS makes use of photos and videos to share activities at CDS events, on school bulletin boards, in camp promotional materials, in emails or photo sharing websites to other class parents, and untagged on the CDS Facebook page and CDS website. In the event I/we do not give permission for any of the above, I/we will submit a signed letter, stating the exceptions, to the CDS Camp Office as soon as possible and BEFORE my child attends Camp CDS
