Parent-Only School Tour

Individual tours of the school for parents-only are scheduled, by appointment, on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, October through December. Please call the Admissions Office beginning in late September at 703-356-9149 or email the Director of Admissions, Lynn Hall, lhall@countryday.org, to schedule this tour, and submit an online inquiry.

Open House

In addition to or in lieu of a parent-only tour, parents may attend an Admissions Open House. The Open Houses occur on the weekends and are for parents only. You may register for an Open House online using the online inquiry form.

Application

Applications for the 2019-20 school year are available on the CDS website. To apply, please create an applicant login account and submit a completed application along with a non-refundable application fee. Applications must be submitted online. The application deadline for families new to CDS is January 15, 2019. All classes are fully registered for the 2018-19 school year, though we do maintain a wait pool. Please contact Lynn Hall to inquire about remaining availability for the 2018-19 school year, or submit an online Inquiry Form to learn more about the 2019-20 school year.

Recommendations

The school asks for teacher recommendation forms for all children who are applying to the Threes, Fours and Kindergarten program who currently attend a school or child care program. These forms are to be sent directly from the teacher or director to Country Day School and are due January 31 for the upcoming school year. Teacher recommendation forms can be found under Admissions Forms.

Admissions Notifications

A completed file is composed of 1) an application and fee, 2) a teacher recommendation form for those children applying to the Threes, Fours or Kindergarten program who are currently enrolled in a program, 3) record of a parent tour of the school or attendance at an Open House, and 4) release of previous school records, IEPs, and evaluation/therapy reports if applicable. Files must be completed before January 31 for an admissions notification to be posted at the beginning of March for the upcoming school year. Applications, updates, and Admissions decisions are managed through the online portal.
