Welcome to Country Day School
Country Day School is play and nature based school where nature and nurture come together to offer excellence in early childhood education. Our school was founded in 1964 by Dorothy B. McCormick. Country Day sits on three picturesque acres in historic Langley Fork and consists of nine playgrounds, a butterfly garden, nature trail, two education buildings, a nature room, a STEAM lab and a library. We design our educational programs using our lush grounds to connect children with nature.
The school is staffed by experienced early childhood educators who understand the developmental needs of preschoolers and kindergartners. Teachers engage the children daily in both small group and individual activities taking advantage of the many wonderful classrooms, both indoors and out. Enrichments in Science, Music, STEAM, Spanish and Library are also part of the daily schedules.
The CDS mission statement commits the school to a “strong parent-school partnership,” to “offer ongoing sequential parent education,” and to “welcome active parent participation in the school’s programs.” Parents have many opportunities to participate in classroom activities and Parent Representative Organization (PRO) events. Parents are strongly encouraged to become part of our strong and supportive community.
The Country Day School staff is committed to making your child’s first preschool experience a good beginning for many years of school success and achievement. Please explore our website and contact us to arrange a visit to our beautiful campus.
