Outdoor Adventures
Since its beginning over 47 years ago, NAEYC accredited Country Day School has dedicated itself to providing young children from two to six wonderful opportunities to explore the outdoors, participate in creative and musical activities, and enjoy water play or swim lessons in a safe and child-centered environment.
Country Day School sits on four beautiful acres in the heart of McLean and offers so many ways for young children to enjoy the best of summer. The campus includes eight playgrounds with numerous climbing structures, swings, slides, playhouses, and sandboxes, open fields for games and running, a nature trail for exploring, a child sized outdoor stage and amphitheater for creative endeavors, and a heated swimming pool designed for instructing younger children.
Children also have the opportunity for creative endeavors inside the two air-conditioned school buildings. In addition to numerous classrooms designed for young children, there is an art studio, science and nature room, library and a multi-purpose room for indoor games and activities.
The camp, staffed by experienced early childhood teachers and assisted by college students, places children in small age-appropriate groups that ensures careful supervision as the children enjoy the best of summer.
The school also offers Parent-Child classes during both sessions. These classes, for young twos and a parent meet once a week for 90 minutes. During the first half of class parents participate with their child in the classroom and during the second half meet with the CDS Parent Education Director to discuss child development while the children participate in activities with their classroom teachers.

Parent-Child Program (Two by 3/31/12): Fridays 9:15 -10:45
Scouts (Three by 9/30/12): Monday-Thursday 8:30–11:10 or 1:20–3:50
Trailblazers (Four by 9/30/12): Monday-Friday 8:45–11:45 or 12:40-3:40
Guides (children entering kindergarten or 1st grade- half day program): Monday-Friday 8:15-11:30 or 12:25-3:50
Rangers (children entering kindergarten or 1st grade- full day program): Monday-Friday 9:00-3 :00
